The 2024 MOFCOM Scholarship (The Scholarship of the Ministry of Commerce begins in September 2024), sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, is a Chinese aid project aimed at strengthening the human resource capacity of developing countries by providing opportunities for further study in a wide range of fields.

I. Eligibility
To be eligible, the applicant must:

• Be a senior government official in Sierra Leone, an academic staff at a university, or a senior manager of a business, under the age of 45, preferably with more than 3 years of work experience;
• Hold a bachelor's degree when applying for a master's program, and a master's degree when applying for a doctoral program;
• Be in good health (a physical examination should be conducted at the 34th Military Hospital and the form should be signed by a Chinese doctor);

Note: Applicants who do not meet the above requirements may not be considered for the scholarship.

II. Application Process:
The Ministry of Commerce Scholarship is only applicable to applicants who wish to continue their studies at the postgraduate level (master's and doctoral). Before registering for the application, please read the instructions carefully.
There are a total of 38 projects, and each applicant can only apply for one project. The attached is a list of the 38 projects (Appendix 1), and its detailed introduction and application guidelines can be found and downloaded at https://www.china-aibo.cn/en/info/1005/1422.htm.
All applicants need to read the application guidelines of each university carefully, prepare the application materials strictly according to its requirements, and complete the online application or fill in the university application form and complete all the application procedures within the time specified by each school.

III. Document Submission
Each applicant should take the initiative to contact the contact person indicated in the target project/institution admissions brochure and send the following materials to the designated address of the applied university. At the same time, they need to submit the soft copies of the following required documents and “Appendix 3: Applicant Information Form” to cnedu4sl@outlook.com before MAY 11, 2024:

Application form (The applicant should fill out a university application form. This year, The 38 programs listed above do not require the completion of the CSC online form. just make sure that every applicant has filled out the target university application form as required and completed the application procedure step by step) (PDF);

Two recommendation letters (PDF): One from the ministry or institution where the applicant works; the other from the professor of the university from which the applicant graduated;

Bachelor or master's degree certificate (PDF): It should be stamped by the Ministry of Technology and Higher Education, and then certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation;

Academic transcript (PDF): It should be stamped by the Ministry of Technology and Higher Education, and then certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation;

Personal statement, including a study plan or research proposal of at least 1,000 words (PDF);

Foreigner Physical Examination Form (Appendix 2, examined at the 34th Military Hospital) (PDF);

Copy of passport (with a validity period of at least 18 months; service or diplomatic passports are not acceptable) (PDF);

Resume (PDF);

Certificate of no criminal record (police statement) (PDF);

Incomplete or late applications will not be processed.

The Economic and Commercial Section of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Sierra Leone is only responsible for recommending qualified and excellent applicants, and the final admission decision will be made by the admissions committee of the university.
